same ResponsibilitiesSummary: The Freight Manager is responsible
for effectively managing all operations within the Freight
department. This includes order management, customer service,
payload efficiencies, equipment maintenance and driver management.
This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week
and weeknights/weekends as required. Primary Job
Responsibilities:The responsibilities of this position include, but
are not limited to:
- Safety - creates a culture of safety and maintains a safe work
environment, provides proper PPE & training, rewards safe driving
behavior and holds team accountable, completes accident
investigations, implements safety improvements, communicates safety
opportunities, and immediately addresses safety concerns.
- Staffing - driver hiring, engagement and retention activities.
Builds relationships with Freight team, addresses concerns,
recognizes achievements, provides performance feedback and
development opportunities.
- Service - works with manufacturing, sales, and supply chain
partners to achieve customer satisfaction. Ensures effective
delivery schedule and dispatching performance through management of
Route Planner and Freight Administrator (if applicable).
Monitors/manages fleet optimization and daily shipping goals via
various reports such as speed gauge, log compliance, DOT
stop/citation, out of route miles, headcount, driver utilization,
payload efficiency, total lbs. shipped, past dues, returns,
interplant deliveries, miles per gallon and OTIFNE (on time in full
no errors). Partners with maintenance provider to reduce equipment
downtime and complete preventative maintenance on tractor & trailer
equipment. Job Skills:This position should possess the following
skills/knowledge:
- Frontline leadership soft skills such as team building and
conflict resolution
- FMCSA and State DOT Requirements
- Proficient in Business Operational Systems, Power BI, and
Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Familiar with complexity of dispatching loads with internal
prioritization and external demand
- Communicates effectively to internal and external partners
- Takes initiative and applies previous learnings to new
situations
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
Educational Requirements:College degree required or equivalent
experience with HS diploma Preferred Experience:2 years in
Transportation/Freight Management with supervisory experience EEO
