Administration - Department of Medicine Inaugural Vice Chair
Opening in TX _x000D x000D_- Located in Tyler, TX _x000D_-
Full-time, permanent position _x000D_- Administrative & Clinical
_x000D_ _x000D_Background: _x000D_The vision of the Department of
Medicine is to promote the health and quality of life of residents
in East Texas by providing exceptional clinical care, conducting
transformative research, and promoting excellent clinical
education. Our clinical mission is to expand access to high-quality
healthcare in East Texas. Currently, the Department consists of 97
faculty across multiple divisions. Faculty in the Department
provide care to more than 175,000 individual patients each year
across both the inpatient and outpatient setting. These clinical
activities support our educational mission to develop a diverse and
representative healthcare workforce focused on reducing health
disparities in East Texas. Currently, we offer post-graduate
training for internal medicine residents and fellows in cardiology,
hematology/oncology, pulmonary/critical care, and gastroenterology.
The new School of Medicine welcomes its first incoming class in
July, 2023._x000D x000D_Position Summary:_x000D x000D_ - The
Inaugural Vice Chair will report directly to the Department
Chair._x000D_ - Develop a Departmental strategy to expand clinical
service lines in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The
Vice Chair will work closely with the Chair and Division Chiefs to
develop and implement a clinical faculty recruitment strategy to
support our expanding clinical enterprise._x000D_ - Work with the
Chair, Leadership (Chief Medical Officer, Medical Directors, and
Senior Clinical Administrators), and Program Directors to promote
engagement of faculty, fellows, residents, and students with
quality improvement priorities._x000D_ - Develop strategies to
promote population health through creative ambulatory quality
improvement initiatives._x000D_ - Work closely with ambulatory
clinical administrators, staff, and clinical faculty to promote
effective outpatient clinical operations._x000D_ - Maintain a
clinical practice with both inpatient and outpatient
responsibilities within the Department._x000D x000D_Preferred
Knowledge & Qualifications:_x000D x000D_ - Knowledge and
understanding of current trends in clinical medicine, including
physician hospital relations, physician practice models, quality
improvement processes, and clinical information systems._x000D_ - A
record of improving quality and safety in a complex health
system._x000D_ - Demonstrated leadership and communication skills;
the ideal candidate is a strong motivator and coach, counselor, and
negotiator in achieving the vision and goals set for the
Department._x000D_ - A commitment to service within the
community._x000D_ - Demonstrated excellence in teaching and
educational leadership in diverse learning environments._x000D_ -
Evidence of successful mentoring skills._x000D_ - Strong
